Our Children's Ministry Director at FUMC is Jamie Moore. Jamie has been a member of our church for 12 years. She has been on staff as Children’s Director since 2007.
Jamie believes that the key to children's ministry is family ministry and loves getting to know the kids, parents, and volunteers! Jamie and her husband Willard have three children. Kathy 11, Becky 10 and Andrew 8.
Please feel free to contact Jamie if you have any questions about our ministry or to share great ideas to reach more kids for God. She can usually be found at the church on weekdays until 2:30, Sunday mornings and evenings, and Wednesday evenings. Call the church at 318-377-1483 or reach her by e-mail at Jamie@mindenmethodist.org
SUNDAY SCHOOL - 9:30-10:15
Children's Building
Bring the kids to Sunday School! We offer classes for all ages starting at 6 months old through the 6th Grade. Please know that your child will be loved and cared for by their teachers. Join us on Sunday and see what a difference just one hour of Christian fellowship can mean to your child!
Nursery – Room 12
Teacher Mrs. Lois West
Infants and toddlers are lovingly cared for by our Nursery Staff. There is always a First Aid/CPR trained worker in the Nursery. We offer Nursery/child care for children up to age 1 years during worship and up to age 5months during Sunday School. Our children's Sunday school classes start at age 6 months!
Early Christian Awareness (6 - 24 months) - Room 11
Teacher: Mrs. Blanch Hirsch
Sunday school for your baby? The ECA Program is offered to those between the ages of six months and twenty-four months. It is a special ministry filled with singing, laughing, learning, caring, and sharing. Children are introduced to the wonder of God's world and all that's in it. They hear their first stories of the families of faith and are surrounded by the assurance of God's love.
Children's Sunday School
"Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on rock." (Matthew 7:24–25)
At each age level on every Sunday the children will be invited to a faith experience. It is during this time that they can come to a better understanding of God and what God calls them to do and be. They come to know Jesus as the Son of God and take his messages to heart. Activities, crafts, stories, and games will contribute to this faith experience. At the end of the time together, the children will have had a chance to meet God and to open themselves for a life-changing transformation.

CHILDREN'S CHURCH
On most Sundays, children from pre-K to 3rd grade are invited to go to children’s church after children’s moments in 10:30 worship. Children are always welcome to stay in worship with parents, but "children's church" offers an optional way for the youngest people to engage in worship in a way that fits their age. Adult leaders help the kids connect with God through stories, games, songs, and crafts. Parents must pick children up after worship in the Fellowship Hall.
Leaders: Jessi McBride (pre-k - K) & Jamie Moore (grades 1-3)
Curriculum: Live B.I.G. is designed to help children learn about the love of God through Jesus so they can live their “Belief in God.” Using a DVD component, leaders are supplied with resources that go beyond the classroom and engage children with Christian role models and a deeper understanding of Jesus and the impact he can have on their lives. Through these resources leaders and children will come to know and love God and Jesus so that they can answer the question, “How can I live B.I.G.?”

Acolytes
The word "acolyte" comes from the Greek akoleuthos which means "to follow." An acolyte is a follower of Jesus Christ who assists in public worship. Our acolytes light candles and perform other services as requested by the pastors. Acolyes are in grades 3 through 6. Acolytes serve at the 10:30 sanctuary service. Becky Mourad or Suzannah Butler are our adult volunteers.
Confirmation Class
It is our tradition that our 6th graders join together as a Confirmation Class during each school year. The class meets Wednesday evening from 9:00 – 10:15 am in the Cross and Flame Sunday School Room. This important time of faith development is led by Matthew and Karen Wise. May our future youth group members grow and develop firm roots in the Scriptures with a renewed love for Jesus and a solid understanding of our Methodist heritage.
